Xionggu Automatic Welding Machines Support Successful Handover of Section 1 of the Zhundong Coal-to-Gas Pipeline Project

Release Date: Nov 05, 2026

On November 2, Section 1 of the Zhundong Coal-to-Gas Pipeline Project, constructed by CPECC Zhongyou (Xinjiang) Engineering Company, successfully passed its handover acceptance, marking the project's entry into the commissioning and trial operation phase. Xionggu automatic welding machines served as the primary welding equipment during pipeline construction, providing reliable equipment support for the project's high-quality and efficient advancement.

The Zhundong Coal-to-Gas Pipeline branch is a key energy project in Xinjiang and a critical channel for transporting coal-to-gas from the Zhundong national-level coal-to-oil-and-gas base. The 57.6-kilometer Section 1, which has now passed handover acceptance, features a pipe diameter of D610 mm and a design pressure of 12 MPa. The project serves as a demonstration for the large-scale application of fully automatic internal welding technology on D610-diameter pipelines, with stringent welding quality control standards.

Located in the Gobi Desert of Zhundong, the project faces harsh construction conditions, including large temperature variations between day and night and frequent sandstorms. The main pipeline utilizes fully automatic internal welding technology, with Xionggu automatic welding machines deployed in this process. The equipment withstood the challenging desert environment, achieving dual control over welding quality and construction efficiency.

According to project manager Wang Bo, the branch pipeline achieved large-scale application of fully automatic internal welding technology for D610-diameter pipes under Gobi Desert conditions, with both welding quality and construction efficiency effectively controlled, forming replicable experience for long-distance pipeline construction. The large-scale deployment of Xionggu automatic welding machines in this demonstration project ensured the successful implementation and stable operation of fully automatic internal welding technology under Gobi Desert conditions.
